Mise-en-scene and jaws (1975)

Everything within the frame- setting, lighting, costume, framing and composition, colour, expressions, make up

Creation of the mise-en-scene can influence the way the audience reads the scene /its interpretation of character or situation.

semiology- the study of signs/ symbols-helps create depth to the scene.

Fire represents warmth and safety and the sea and the darkness represent danger and darkness.
When the man leaves the circle he is heading into danger.
Because of the high angle shot it makes the actors look vulnerable.
The bars on the fence are used to track people.

Its dark its also a high angle
They're isolated
Its quiet
They're trapped
Filmed though the net
